The 2020 Kirov International Junior E-Piano Competition took place from August 24 through October 24. Finalists selected from the Junior Division (up to age 13) and the Young Artist Division (ages 14–17) competed remotely — via Spirio — from cities around the world straight to the live jury panel in Washington, DC.

Raymond T. Jackson Scholarship Prize 


First, Second, and Third Prize winners will perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 2021 and are invited as scholarship participants to the 2021 Kirov International Music Festival. Laureates will also participate in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists. 

The First Prize Winner from each division will receive a Steinway Young Artist Grant by Steinway Piano Gallery - Washington D.C. and the Cosmos Cooperation in Seoul. They will be invited to perform at the Embassy Concert Series in Washington D.C.

Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., will implement the world’s first virtual International Piano Competition, featuring the Steinway Spirio Piano, the most technologically advanced high-resolution player piano system ever created. The 2020 Kirov International Junior E-Piano Competition will take place from August 24 through October 24, 2020, and is open to all young pianists up to age 17, from around the world. Participants selected from the Junior Division (Ages up to 13) and the Young Artist Division (Ages 14-17) will compete in the virtual round in Washington D.C.


Welcome to the world’s first Virtual International Piano Competition featuring the Steinway Spirio

Kirov Academy is proud to host the 2020 Kirov International Music Festival Junior E-Piano Competition! We are excited to announce the world’s first virtual international piano competition featuring the Steinway Spirio, the world’s most advanced high-resolution player piano system. The Steinway Spirio can digitally capture every nuance of a performer’s musical interpretation and reproduce it in any location around the globe. Finalists will perform and record on Spirio Pianos at Steinway Music Halls in selected cities. The pre-recorded playback performances will be evaluated before a panel of live international judges.

How does the Steinway Spirio work?


The Final Round 

The Final Virtual Round of the Competition will take place on Saturday, October 24, on the Steinway Spirio Piano at the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C., and the recording will be premiered on November 7th at 10:00 AM EST. The young talented pianists will be competing for Steinway Artist Grants, a concert tour with the Embassy Concert Series, and the chance to perform at the world-renowned Kennedy Center of Washington, DC in the Summer of 2021.
