Vladimir Djouloukhadze
"Mr. Vladimir Djouloukhadze, one of the most accomplished ballet masters, teachers, choreographers, and mentors in America today is celebrating his 50th Anniversary of teaching this year. When I took my first class with him many years ago, I knew immediately that I was in the presence of something very special and extraordinary. His combinations and corrections made my body move in a way that is natural, organic, and unexpected. It is very difficult to be a good dancer, but it’s even more difficult to be a good educator. It requires knowledge, dedication, and that special ability to connect with the students. Mr. Vladimir possesses all of these qualities. I am so honored to be working alongside Mr. Vladimir at Kirov Academy today and I am looking forward to many years of nurturing and preserving the Vaganova legacy with him."
Kirov Academy President Dr. Thomas Walsh and Artistic Director, Joan Boada, are pleased to announce the Second recipients of the Vladimir Djouloukhadze Emerging Artist Scholarship Fund, which was established in honor of the 50-year career of Vladimir Djouloukhadze in ballet and the arts. Mr. Djouloukhadze was one of the first teachers at Kirov Academy, founded 30 years ago, and remains one of the Academy’s finest teachers. This merit-based award is granted to students exclusively selected by Mr. Djouloukhadze and used to finance training and expenses associated with preparing for, and participating in, prestigious ballet competitions and performances.
The program was funded in 2020, with contributions anticipated by corporate and individual donors, including current and former students, and enthusiasts of Mr. Djouloukhadze’s extensive career. The first recipients, and the second selected are Nora Yun Schaefer and Alexander Nicolosi by Mr. Djouloukhadze for participation in the program were Nora Schaefer and Matteo Ghidoli, both students of Kirov Academy. To further celebrate Mr. Djouloukhadze's 50th Year as our highly respected ballet dancer, we would like to share you one of our recent Winter Gala 2020 variation - Pas de Sclave!
Mr. Djouloukhadze spent all semester to prepare for this piece and the performance speaks for itself on his proficiency in teaching and leading the students to the right direction.
