Min Woo Kang


Universal Ballet Principal Dancer / 2008 Alumnus


Min Woo Kang was born in South Korea. He trained in ballet at Sun Hwa Arts School and the Kirov Academy of Ballet, Washington, DC and then went on to graduate from the Sejong University Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Arts. Min Woo Kang joined Universal Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2008 and was promoted to Demi-Soloist in 2012. He was appointed Soloist in 2012 and Principal Dancer in 2017. During his time at Universal Ballet, he has performed numerous main roles in classical and contemporary ballet. He is known as a dancer with great charm who knows how to communicate with the audience. 

Min Woo has received awards such as the Bronze Prize at the Korea International Ballet Competition in 2012 and the Silver Prize at Korea International Ballet Competition in 2011, and was a finalist at the Seoul International Dance Competition in 2010. 

His repertory as principal dancer includes leading roles in The Nutcracker (Prince), Shim Chung (Sea Dragon King, Captain), MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet (Benvolio, Mercutio), Giselle (Albrecht), Don Quixote (Espada), Brian Yoo's The Love of Chunhyang (Governor Pyun), Swan Lake (Siegfried), La Bayadere (Golden Idol, Solor), John Cranko’s Onegin (Prince Gremin, Lensky) and many other classics and contemporary roles.
