Chang, Matthew | Matthew Chang (b. 2008) is a student at the Kirov Academy’s Gifted and Talented Program. He has been studying piano with Dr. Kuei-I Wu for six years, and has received numerous accolades during his career, including winning first prizes in the Chopin Competition in Hartford, CT, the William Knabe International Piano Competition, the Great Washington Steinway Piano Competition, and the International Young Artist Piano Competition. Matthew was also a recipient of the Steinway Young Artist Grant and the Kern Foundation’s Aspiration Award in the Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition. Giraudeau, Charlotte | 12 years old, grade 7 student, Canadian International School, Singapore Born in 2008, Charlotte started piano journey at five with Mrs. Dornian in Calgary, Canada. Since 2018, she has been studying with professor Albert Tiu at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore. Charlotte achieved remarkable successes over the years. She was a finalist of the national Canadian Music Competition in 2016 and won a reward of the National Mary Gardiner Reward in 2017 in Canada. She was the youngest student of the Academy Program for Young Gift Artists in the Mount Royal University, Calgary in 2017. Han, Charm Hee | Cham Hee Han (13), born in Seoul, Korea, is currently in the second year of Yewon School majoring in Piano. He first started learning piano when he was 5 years old but seriously considered to be a pianist at his 11 years old. Since at a very young age Charm Hee learnt to play piano as well as violin and has earnestly learned to play and studied music. As he quickly improved his musical abilities, he was honored to receive the Education Minister's Award at the 22nd Yookyoung National Children's Music Competition in 2018. After entering Yewon School, he has developed and broaden his musical experiences through participating in concerts, competitions, and festivals. In 2019, Charm Hee won a Grand Prize at the Eum-ak Segye (Korea’s famous music publishing company) Competition and in 2020, he won the 1st place in the Eum-ak Choonchoo (Korea’s reputable music journal) Competition and 2nd place from the 5th Korea Steinway Competition and is recognized as one of the most valuable young artists in Korea. Han, Victoria | Victoria Lahee Han was born on September 28, 2010 in New York. At the age of 4, she started to learn piano through her church in Hawaii. By age 6, under the tutelage of Dr. Thomas Yee, she made her competitive debut at the 2017 Aloha International Piano Competition coming in 2nd place. She later went on to earn 1st place finishes at the 2018 Steinway Piano Competition, 2018 Aloha International Piano Competition and a gold medal at the 2019 Seattle International Piano Competition. Kim, Jungmin | Born in September 2007, Jungmin started playing the piano at the age of 5 under the guidance of Dr. Mihyang Joo while living in Fairfax, Virginia. At the age of 8, she moved to her current home in Seoul, South Korea where she studies piano with Professor Jungwon Suh. She is currently a first year student at the Yewon School in Seoul. Shiraishi, Momone | Momone Shiraishi is 12 years old and a freshman at Kurakuen Junior High School in Hyogo, Japan. She started learning piano with Ms. Miyo Honya when she was four, since then she received numerous awards and performance opportunities including a appearance of the TV Asahi program.She has been actively performing in public, at competitions and various concerts, such as hospitals, nursery schools, nursing homes and Hotel Lobby Concerts. Yaoyao’s potential is unlimited.” —-Haochen Zhang Yaoyao is from Zhejiang Province, China. She is a scholarship student at Juilliard Pre-College and lives in New York City. Yaoyao’s music journey is truly a journey of love and curiosity for music. Born and raised in a farming family, Yaoyao started learning music on an electric keyboard. It was her impressive progress and determination that left her mother with no choice but to take her to study music intensely at Shanghai Conservatory and Juilliard’s Pre-College. Since her arrival to New York more than a year ago, she has won Juilliard audition, New York City top competitions, and had performed alongside Juilliard and Curtis piano faculties at Carnegie Hall. All, with her newly generated repertoire of several recital programs. She was also the youngest participant at Oxford Piano Festival and was the youngest participant and alternate winner at Juilliard’s Prokofiev 3rd Piano Concerto Competition. After being discovered by and earning high praises from the esteemed pianist and pedagogue Gary Graffman at a reception at Steinway Hall in New York City early 2019, Yaoyao is very fortunate to have gained the support and guidance from another legendary pianist and pedagogue Menahem Pressler, with whom she was invited to study with last summer. Dwyer, Madelyn | Madelyn Dwyer (17) is a rising senior in Glenelg High School in Maryland, USA. A piano student of Dr. Bok Hwa Kim since the age of six, she has been a repeat winner of the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Brown Concerto Competitions. Madelyn has also won first-prizes in the Gottlieb Competition (2017, 2019) and the MSMTA High School Performance Award, Howard County (Junior Division, 2019), to name a few, and has recently been chosen to perform in a master class with the renowned pianist Gary Graffman. Jeong Ye-ji is a freshman at Sunhwa Arts High School and graduated from Sunhwa Arts Middle School. Yeji Jeong started playing the piano when she was 7 years old and she continued to play the piano because she liked it, and she entered Sunhwa Arts Middle School. Kaeng, Michael A. | Michae Abimanyu Kaeng was born in Jakarta on 19th May 2004. He started learning piano at the age of five under the guidance of Mr. Oerip Santoso. Michael has played in the concerts or piano competitions in several countries, such as Indonesia, Singapore, Hongkong, Japan, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Germany. Kim, Jiwoo | Jiwoo Kim was born in Seoul in January 2004. She is 16 years old and currently studies piano under Professor Jungwon Suh in first grade at Seoul Arts High School after graduated from Yewon School. Jiwoo started playing the piano at the age of five. She has won the top prize in numerous piano competitions in Korea and performed winner concerts. In 2017, she also had a concert with the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra at New Year's concert. With her passion for music, she also participated in the Summer Academy at the Mozarteum in Austria, Summer Workshop at Indiana University of Music in the USA, and the Euro Music Festival in Germany. Moon, Heesun | Heesun Moon is a student at Sunwha Arts High School in Seoul, Korea. Currently, Moon has been studying piano with Prof. Dajung Cho since 2015. Heesun began playing the piano at the age of four. Born in Daejeon, a quite suburban city in South Korea, Heesun always seeked for better educational opportunity. Heesun participated in several programs, such as Daejeon Arts Center Academy in 2018-2019, and XV Festival Y Academia de Musica in Tenerife, Spain. Park, Jinyoung | Born in South Korea in 2003. He first started playing the piano at the age of seven. In 2016 he entered one of South Korea's finest art schools; Sunhwa Arts Middle School. In 2019 he entered the prestigious Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts where he continues his studies in piano. Jinyoung participated in the 2017 Korea Young Artist Music Festival in Gukje Hall in Seoul. Since 2019 he has focused solely on piano whilst homeschooling. Shin, Yunsun | Yunsun Shin (14) is attending her third year of YEWON School, majoring in Piano. She has been studying with Jungwon Suh at the Trinity School of Music since February 2015. Always passionate and hardworking, Yunsun has won numerous awards and competitions that proves her excellence. She won the grand prize at the 2020 Korean Steinway Competition and won the International Chopin Piano Competition that was held in Yokohama Japan. Yunsun has also had opportunities to perform and participate in numerous recitals, such as the Euro Music Festival Opening, and the On Dream Ensemble Concert. The fact that the music scene is playing attention to Yunsun is shown as she has been selected for the Kumho Prodigy Support program, renowned for producing world-class musicians. Wang, Shiqin | My name is Wang Shiqin. I am a sixteen year-old student at Tianjin Conservatory of Music Middle School. I have been studying music, in particular piano since I was four. I’ve learnt many composers’ piano works in every period, such as Bach, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn to Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, especially for baroque, classical and 20th century music works, which all are my favorite. Zhang, Edward | Edward Zhang, 17, began studying piano at the age of five and is a student of Dr. Duane Hulbert in Tacoma, WA. He has previously studied with James Chen, Peter Mack, and Sasha Starcevich. Edward has been recognized in a number of competitions, including winning the silver medal in the 8th Bösendorfer and Yamaha International Piano Competition and the Grand Prize in 98.1 KING FM’s Young Artist Awards. He was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Minnesota International E-Piano Junior Competition and competed in the 2020 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. He has also won gold medals in the 2016 Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, the 2011 Seattle International Piano Competition, and a gold medal each year since 2012 in the Chopin Festival of the Northwest. Zhang, Elizabeth | Elizabeth Zhang is a junior at Phillips Academy Andover. Born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Elizabeth started learning piano at age six and currently studies with Alexander Korsantia and Natalia Harlap. After winning first prize in both the MTNA Utah State and Southwest Regional competitions, Elizabeth performed as a finalist in the MTNA National Competition. Over the past year, she was awarded Grand Prix at the Padewerski International Competition, first prize and the Margaret C. Bachelder Romantic Music Award in the New England Piano Teachers’ Association (NEPTA) Competition, and was the winner of the Seven Hills Symphony Concerto Competition. Elizabeth has participated in festivals such as the Cincinnati Art of the Piano Festival and the Gina Bachauer Piano Festival and performed with the American Fork and American West symphonies. Aside from music, Elizabeth is part of her school’s cross-country, track, and tennis teams and enjoys hiking and skiing with her sister. | Submit Video |
