In 2020–21 the Kirov Academy’s Gifted and Talented Student Recital Series provides a virtual platform for outstanding young musicians to showcase their artistry. Our online students perform from locations around the globe as Kirov Academy operates remotely during the pandemic. Student Recitals will be presented as pre-recorded broadcasts to the public via livestream broadcasts on the Kirov’s website and YouTube page.

Born in 2007 in Seoul, Eun-seo Cho started learning the piano at age 6 and gave her first public recital at age 9 in 2016. She was a participant at the 36th Young Musicians Festival in 2019. She performed solo piano recital, ‘Kumho Prodigy Concert’ sponsored by Kumho Foundation, which is one of the most prestigious art and music foundations in Korea, and she also successfully conducted a collaborative performance with Seoul Citiphilharmoni Orchestra in 2020.
She has achieved many accolades throughout her career. She has received many first prizes at a variety of national competitions in Korea and US. She has won first prize from the Kirov International Competition and as a result, she performed the winners’ gala concert at John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. US, and the winners’ recital at Moscow Conservatory in Moscow, Russia, the Eumag-Chunchu Piano Competition, the Teenager Piano Concours and the T&B International Artist Concours, and also she has won second prize form the Eum-Youn Music Competition and the Sung-Jung Piano Competition. In addition, she won the 3rd prize from Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for young pianists in Washington D.C., US and conducted the winners’ concert at Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for young pianists in Washington, D.C. US. She received musical guidance from Prof. Na-jung Kim and Ye-won Ju, and she also has participated in a number of masterclasses with music maestros including Prof. Sergei Dorensky, Prof. Jerome Lowenthal, Prof. John Perry, and Prof. Ian Hobson. Currently as a student at Yewon School, she always continues to endeavor to be a better musician.

Born in September 2007, Jungmin started playing the piano at the age of 5 under the guidance of Dr. Mihyang Joo while living in Fairfax, Virginia. At the age of 8, she moved to her current home in Seoul, South Korea where she studies piano with Professor Jungwon Suh. She is currently a first-year student at the Yewon School in Seoul.
Jungmin is fortunate to have received many accolades in piano, to include first place prizes at the 2020 Korea Steinway Competition, 2020 Piano League Piano Star Showcase competition, 2019 Korea Chopin Competition, 2019 Korean American Music Association Competition, 2018 Edward Auer Piano Workshop Solo Competition Junior Division, 2017 Eumyoun Concours, and many other piano competitions.
She also achieved success with international piano competitions throughout Asia, winning second place at the 2018 Osaka International Music Competition, and was a prize winner at the 2018 International Chopin Competition in Asia and 2018 Hanoi International Piano Competition.
At 10 years old, Jungmin made her concerto debut playing Mozart Concerto No.20 in D minor K. 466 with the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra Korea in Seoul. At 11 years old she performed her first solo concert for the Kumho Prodigy Series at Kumho Yonsei Art Hall. She delighted her audience at her other piano performances including the 2019 Euro Music Festival in Halle, Germany, 2019 J&R Music Concours Prize Winner Concert, 2019 M Winners Gala Concert, 2018 Young Musicians Festival, 2018 Haneum Concours Winner's Recital, 2018 Win Art Hall Joint Recital, 2017 Music Education News Recital, 2016 Lang Lang 101 Pianists Workshop at Lotte Concert Hall, and Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in 2014. She has participated in masterclasses with Attila Nemethy, Yoshikazu Nagai, Edward Auer, Corey Mcvica, and Julius-Jeongwon Kim.

Hyunmin Koo was born on the 17th of October, 2006. She has been doing home-schooling in Korea under the direction of Hunjae Kim. Hyunmin decided to pursue piano professionally after the experience of playing the ‘Bach Invention No. 2 in C minor’ at the ‘Peace and Piano Festival’ when she was eight. She had taken Seoul Arts Center Academy for Gifted Children and Yewon middle school and won various of prizes since then. Starting with the performance in main round at ‘International Competition Aarhus 2019’, she is developing her dream to become a pianist. She has taken part in many different concerts at least more than twice every year to improve her performance.
