Kirov Academy President Dr. Thomas Walsh and Artistic Director, Joan Boada,  are pleased to announce the Second recipients of the Vladimir Djouloukhadze Emerging Artist Scholarship Fund, which was established in honor of the 50-year career of Vladimir Djouloukhadze in ballet and the arts. Mr. Djouloukhadze was one of the first teachers at Kirov Academy, founded 30 years ago, and remains one of the Academy’s finest teachers.  This merit-based award is granted to students exclusively selected by Mr. Djouloukhadze and used to finance training and expenses associated with preparing for, and participating in, prestigious ballet competitions and performances.

The program was funded in 2020, with contributions anticipated by corporate and individual donors, including current and former students, and enthusiasts of Mr. Djouloukhadze’s extensive career. The first recipients, and the second selected are Nora Yun Schaefer and Alexander Nicolosi by Mr. Djouloukhadze for participation in the program were Nora Schaefer and Matteo Ghidoli, both students of Kirov Academy. Kirov Academy is a DC not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(C)(3) accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
